After 2 years of development, Jacob & Co. presents Solar Astronomy for the eight planets of the solar system: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. With the 44.5 mm case, the Manufacture once again pushes the limits of Haute Horlogerie and its expertise. Equipped with a 34.55 mm diameter movement and 439 components that are constantly rotating in both directions, the Solar Astronomy reproduces the solar system, further enhancing the realism of the celestial bodies.
The center of the movement rotates clockwise for a full 360-degree rotation in just ten minutes, and the aventurine base rotates in the opposite direction at exactly the same speed, creating a streamlined, accelerated view of the solar system. . The ideal behind the Jacob & Co. Astronomia collection has always been high achievement in a playful environment. In Solar Astronomy, the eight planets of the solar system take their place on the dial for the first time, with the sun at the center in the shape of a citrine, complete with the iconic Jacob Cut and its 288 facets.
The hand-engraved globe rotates on its own axis every 60 seconds and completes a complete revolution of the dial in 10 minutes, as part of an assembly that also houses the hour and minute subdials and an 18-inch flying tourbillon. . The new in-house movement makes possible reduced case sizes, new functions and faster rotation speeds.
The JCAM19 movement beats at 4Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), faster than any other Astronomia model. However, despite its smaller diameter of just 34.55 mm, it contains 439 components, excluding semi-precious stones, more than other Astronomia models.
